The history of the band dates back to January 15, 1965, the day it was founded by Don Salvador Lizárraga in the city of Mazatlán, Sinaloa. Today, it reflects a great band whose trajectory and quality confirm that regional Mexican music is one of the most powerful genres.
The Original Banda El Limón has the privilege of being the first Sinaloan band to usher in a new era in its genre, incorporating sound equipment and having a vocalist as a member of the group. Vocalists who stood out in the group include Julio Preciado, Jorge Cordero, José Ángel Ledezma "El Coyote," Nico Flores, Chuy Lizárraga, Antonio Lizárraga, Israel Valdez, Lorenzo Méndez, and currently, they have three excellent vocalists: José Ramón Maldonado, Kevin Melendres, and Víctor Noriega. In the 90s, the band established itself as a favorite among the audience, achieving such success that in 1997, it internationalized as the first Sinaloan band, holding the top spot for almost a year on the "Hot Latin Tracks" list of Billboard in the United States. They received gold and double platinum records, among other recognitions, for their high record sales.
